White Fire
Cover for the first book of my fantasy novel series. Looks kind of empty like this without the titles and everything, but whatever... though i'd post it anyway!

Hiya Zanariya, i hope you dont mind me asking but I really like the way you construct faces & expressions, especially in this piece zanariya.deviantart.com/art/Ch…

I was wondering where you learned to construct them with such beauty/grace? ^^"
Like what are your influences, if you dont mind sharing? c: ty for your time <3

Hi! Im glad to hear that you like my art :) I would say that my greatest inspiration for facial expressions (and for my more cartoony art style) is "avarar the last airbender" and "the legend of korra" (maybe you are already familiar with the shows?) They both have such great expressions for theit characters and if you like the style i would recommend watching a bunch of episodes of the show(s) and go crazy with the print screen button whenever you see an expression that you like, save them, and study afterwards. Thats what I did, and it helped me a great deal in the beginning before i altered into my own style :) Hope that helps you, cheers!

Oh, thank you for the advice. Um if you don't mind me asking further, what about perspective when it comes to character drawing? often times i find it impossible to visualize characters in perspective, be it for illustration or for a character sheet. Do you have any advice? ;///;" I understand how helpful studies may be but i find studies rather pointless if you have no theory to base it upon. I know i should get reference, but I also don't know where to look.

Perspective is always tricky when you start out. The beast advice i can give you is to just keep practicing (i know, thats what everybody says but there is no big magic secret). If i were you, i would pick a character (a very simple one!) from a manga or a comic and draw that specific character in one million different angles. And don't be afraid of failing, just ignore it and keep going! The great thing about this method is that whenever you are uncertain of the perspective you can just open up that manga/comic and find your specific character in a similar pose. Think of it as solving a math problem and comparing your answer to the correction sheet :) And once again, the character Aang from "avatar the last airbender" is a great character to start with becuase he is drawn in pretty much all angles you can think of in the comic/anime, plus he doesnt have hair that will troubble you!
